Rajiv Silgardo – Chief Executive OfficerRajiv has more than 26 years of experience in the investment industry in the area of quantitative active and index fund management. Prior to joining the BMO team, Rajiv was at Barclays Global Investors Canada Ltd for 14 years and served as President & CEO as well as Chief Investment Officer most recently. He is a past member of the TSX Trading Advisory Committee and of the Board of Governors of the Bishop Strachan School. Rajiv currently serves on the Advisory Board at Ryerson University's Ted Rogers School of Business. He holds a Masters of Commerce from Delhi University, India, an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a CFA charter holder.
Kevin Gopaul – Senior Vice President and Chief Investment OfficerKevin's vast industry experience in global Index and Active strategies is a key asset to the ETF team. Prior to joining BMO Financial Group, Kevin served as Principal, Portfolio Manager at Barclays Global Investors Canada Ltd where he played an integral role in overseeing the management of $11 billion in Exchange Traded Funds and Institutional mandates. In addition to his current responsibilities at BMO Asset Management, Kevin continues to be an active participant in the financial services industry, serving as a member of the Standard & Poor's Advisory Panel, and the Dow Jones Global Index Committee. Kevin studied Economics, Finance and Computer Science at the University of Waterloo.
Rob Bechard – Vice President and Head of ETF Portfolio ManagementRob serves as the head of equity and fixed income portfolio management and has been developing and managing ETFs since 2002. Prior to joining BMO, Rob worked at Barclays Global Investors where he worked for seven years as a fixed income portfolio manager at offices in Toronto and London, England. Rob has also worked extensively on synthetic equity and currency hedged portfolios. Rob holds a BSc in mathematics from Queen's University, an MSc in mathematical trading and finance from City University Business School in London, England, and is a CFA charter holder.
Mark Raes – Vice President and Portfolio ManagerMark is the manager of fixed income portfolios, co-manages derivatives trading and equity portfolios, and serves as an operational specialist to the BMO ETF team. Mark has spent most of his 15-year career in the financial services industry working with Exchange Traded Funds. His past work has involved overseeing performance measurement at Mackenzie Financial Corp. and fund operations for BGI Canada at Investor's Bank & Trust. He holds a BBA in Finance from Wilfrid Laurier University, an MBA from York University, and is a CFA charter holder.
Raymond Chan – Vice President and Portfolio ManagerRaymond has more than eight years of experience in the investment industry and currently serves as an equity portfolio manager and currency hedging specialist. Prior to joining BMO Asset Management Inc., Raymond served as a portfolio manager at Barclays Global Investors where he was responsible for managing all equity ETFs, including one of Canada's largest, while also co-managing the indexed, hedged and balanced portfolios of institutional clients. Raymond holds a BA in economics, an FRM designation, and is a CFA charter holder.
Chris McHaney – Vice President and Portfolio ManagerChris has more than twelve years of experience in the investment industry and currently serves as portfolio manager for derivative-based and equity-based portfolios. He has taken on numerous roles since joining BMO Financial Group in 2002, including Manager of Investments for BMO Asset Management Inc. where he was responsible for mutual fund manager monitoring and selection. In this role, he was also responsible for overseeing the currency hedging program across the mutual fund platform. Chris holds a BBA from York University's Schulich School of Business and is a CFA charter holder.
Alfred Lee – Vice President and Investment StrategistAlfred develops tactical and multi-asset strategies using ETFs and manages the BMO ETF guided portfolio found in the Portfolio Strategy Report. In addition, he is the co-portfolio manager of the BMO ETF Completion Portfolio, a tactical liquid alternatives strategy comprising of various non-core ETFs.
Prior to joining BMO Asset Management Inc., Alfred spent four years at a large Canadian based brokerage covering ETFs as well as providing daily commentary to commodities, foreign exchange, international macro and sat on the investment committee that managed the firm's active equity strategies. Alfred is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario, majoring in economics and holds the CFA, CMT and DMS designations. He is also a current member to the International Association of Financial Engineers (IAFE).
Chris Heakes – Associate Portfolio ManagerChris joined the BMO ETF portfolio management team in 2011, focusing on equity and covered-call portfolios. His several years of industry experience includes a role as a quantitative equity research associate, and work in investment funds product and client support. Chris holds a Masters of Finance from the University of Toronto, Rotman School of Management (Dean's List), where he studied investments, including derivatives and derivative pricing. Chris also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Waterloo, with studies in History and Mathematics, and is pursuing the CFA designation.
Alain Desbiens – Vice President, Quebec & AtlanticAlain brings more than 15 years of experience in the financial services industry to his role as BMO ETF specialist for eastern Canada. A seasoned financial expert with experience as a broker, Alain has been instrumental in raising awareness of the benefits of ETFs to individual, retail and institutional clients through his facilitation of client seminars. He has also played an equally pivotal role in keeping portfolio managers in eastern Canada and Quebec aware of new developments in the ETF sphere. Prior to joining BMO, Alain worked as wholesaler and sales manager in the wealth distribution field, as well as a branch manager and investment advisor in the brokerage industry. Alain is a graduate of Laval University with a BA in Industrial Relations and holds the CSC-Branch Manager and Partner Director & Officer designations.
Kevin Prins – Vice President, OntarioRecently returning to BMO from his role as institutional sales lead for fee-based and managed accounts at NBCN, Kevin has an innovative and creative approach to using new types of ETFs to build business. He boasts more than 18 years of experience in banking, securities and mutual funds and leverages his expertise to develop effective ETF strategies for portfolio managers in Ontario. In addition, he takes time out to educate clients about the benefits of ETFs through informal seminars. Prior to joining BMO, Kevin held positions at the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI) and RBC Investments. He brings with him an MBA from Dalhousie University and several industry designations, including FCSI, CIM and CFP. He continues to be a regular contributor to CSI publications.
Daniel Stanley – Vice President, OntarioDanielís 14 years of experience in the capital markets industry includes positions in sales and investment management in Toronto and New York City. During his 7 years at CIBC World Markets he developed expertise in helping advisors use structured products and foreign exchange solutions. He managed global currency exposure at Bloomberg LP, and previously held a role as an investment advisor at RBC Dominion Securities, where he advised clients on security selection and portfolio management. Daniel's consultative approach to working with investors is well suited to increasing the awareness of BMO ETFs among retail and institutional clients. Daniel is a CFA charter holder and holds a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from McGill University.
Mark Webster – Vice President, Western CanadaMark is the BMO ETF team's globetrotter. A veteran of the financial services industry, Mark began his career as a professional indemnity broker before becoming a vice president at Minet International Professional Indemnity Ltd. (now part of AON), conducting risk analysis for the Big 8 global accounting firms, as well as some of the top U.S. law firms. He is responsible for overseeing the proliferation of ETFs throughout Canada's vast western region and providing support to portfolio managers from Duncan B.C. to Thunder Bay, Ontario. He has worked as a retail investment advisor with RBC DS; in the mutual fund industry with First Trust Portfolios; and has held several other positions in the pension industry. He brings with him a Masters degree in Russian History from McGill University. Mark also holds the CSC, CPH and Options designations.
